10 Reasons Why No One Is Reading Your Blog & 10 Solutions to Fix Them!

visitor blogMany aspiring bloggers believe that readers will flock to their blogs as soon as they post a new entry. Unfortunately, writing engaging content is just one of the many aspects of blogging. If you're not getting the visitor count that you want, you're probably doing one or more of the following:

1. Your blog's design isn't aesthetically appealing.
You can't please everyone with design work, but you may end up losing readers when your font is too small or your color scheme is too bright. First impressions last even with blogs. Impress visitors with a tasteful design that's both attractive and functional.

2. You post large masses of text.
A whole page of uninterrupted text can be off-putting, so make sure to thrown in a few pictures in between paragraphs to break the monotony. If you're not a photographer, you can use royalty-free images found in many galleries online. Just don't forget to give credit where it's due.

3. Your blog takes too long to load.
On the other hand, posting too many photos and other media such as videos, flash animations, etc. doesn't just make your blog look cluttered -- they also cause your blog to take forever to load fully. Visitors with slower Internet speeds will most likely leave your blog without even reading what you have to say if that's the case.

Blog Spelling Errors4. Your grammar and spelling leave a lot to be desired.
No one expects Pulitzer-prize winning articles on a blog, but you should still put effort into writing something that's understandable, informative, and entertaining. You can't do that if your writing is full of technical errors that an editor can otherwise easily fix.

5. You don't ask questions to hook in your readers.
Involve your readers more by adding calls to action at the end of your entries. These can be as simple as a question that would move people to leave comments, spurring a discussion. More often than not, comments from other people can be good places to start interesting topics that are related to but not covered by your post.

6. You don't use relevant keywords.keywords
To get a good position in search results, you have to use the hottest keywords in your niche. You don't have to use a very high keyword density to get noticed by search engines; typically, many bloggers work with something between 0.5 to 1.5 percent, with an average falling on 0.77 percent.

7. You post sporadically.
Readers return to blogs that are regularly updated. If you rarely post, even your most loyal fans can get tired of waiting, and eventually, they'll forget about your blog and move on to some other blog that can offer fresh content. Don't fall off their radar! Stick to a posting schedule so that people will know when you have something new for them.

8. You don't utilize the power of social media.
Social networking is not just about catching up with friends. It's also about Internet marketing. Use websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, etc. to promote new entries, launch contests, and start discussions with your followers. The more engaging your social network pages are, the more likely people will visit your blog.

Reply to Comments9. You fail to reply to comments.
You don't have to reply to every comment, but make sure to take time to reply to thoughtful comments, especially those that add significantly to the discussion. Blogging is not just about you talking with other people listening; blogging is interactive. Replying to comments is the courteous thing to do, and it's also a great technique for Internet marketing. Also, readers will feel more special when you acknowledge their input, making them likely to return to your blog for more visits.

10. You neglect leaving comments on other blogs.
Part of Internet marketing is building a network, and you can do that by reaching out to other bloggers. Express genuine interest in their topics, and you can expect them to return the favor by dropping by your blog. If they like what they see, you may just gain new readers.

As you can see from the list, there are many possible reasons why your blog isn't as popular as you expect it to be. However, there is a solution for each one of them, so don't be discouraged. Also, after writing your entries, focus more on Internet marketing. Blogging is half writing, half promoting, after all. You have to put yourself out there not just in your entries, but in social networks as well.
